Montana Fly Fishing Drift Boat on the Madison River

Fly Fish Montana in 2016

As many of you may know, there has been a big change in this area. Normally, the Madison River from Quake to McAttee would be closing tomorrow through the third Saturday in May. However, Montana FWP opened the Upper Madison to year-round access. While the river was previously closed to give spawning fish a break from the pressure angling imposes on them, the now open river is something we can take advantage of so long as we are responsible  as anglers. The spring is a phenomenal time to fish the Madison river.  That being said keep an eye out for redds and be very cautious not to disturb them. It will also be important to be prepared for any weather and water conditions, as the spring is a very unpredictable time to be out on the water.

With the change in regulations, we will also be changing our shop opening date. We do not usually fully open back up for the season until April, but this year we're getting an early start. We'll be the opening the shop for the season tomorrow, March 1st.  We'll be open 9-5 Monday through Saturday, hours and days/week to expand once we hit April as we usually do. Stop by and see us!
