Weather outlook: High today around 30 overcast with 30% chance of snow. Highs in the low 30's the rest of the week with more snow. 

 

Montana

Madison (Hebgen Dam-Ennis) 

Hebgen Dam Flows: 1030 cfs

Hebgen Dam Water Temps: 36.5F

Kirby: 1100 cfs

Kirby Water Temps: 38F

We continue to get snow, but the days are getting longer and the water temperature at the Kirby Ranch is getting close to 40 degrees during the height of the day.  That can mean only one thing.  The midge hatches are going off.  This can be some of the funnest dry fly fishing around.  Mind you, it's still cold out there so make sure you have the proper winter gear!

Dry Flies: #18 to #20 Sparkle Duns, Missing Links, Griffiths Knat & Still Born Midges.

Nymphs:  #8 Black Sili Legs, #10 Biot Golden Stones, #18 Lightning Bugs, #18 Green Machines, #18 Black Zebras

Steamers: #6 Olive Sparkle Minnows, #6 Articulated Skully Bugger - Black ,#2 Black/Purple Slap-N-Tickles, #6 Living String Leach - Tan with White Butt, Silver Minnow #1 Bugger w/tungsten cone head
