Runoff is starting up, get out there and enjoy the weather!

MRO shop staff Hugh Himan, taking advantage of the warm weather, catches a sturdy Upper Madison Bow
Montana

Hebgen: Ice on the lake is almost completely off with the only remainder being ice flows right above the dam. Throwing streamers along the rocky banks has been yielding some nice fish. As always, nymphing is the name of the game. Soaking nymphs or leaches below indicators on the flats will be he best bet. Additionally, overzealous ice off, gulpers may still offer a dry fly eat. The fishing will continue to improve as the lake heats up.

MRO guide Tyler Amory, sticks a chunky Upper Madison Brown on a day off.

Upper Madison:
The Upper Madison will most likely be getting to its runoff stage this week. Fishing earlier in the week, the waters will still mostly be chalky green, throwing streamers, nymphing and dry flies are all in play here. As run off ramps up, its time to break out the heavy stuff. Pounding the banks with large nymphs, worms, and streamers will be your best bet. Don't be scared of the #BB splitshot!
