Hebgen: Hebgen lake is currently full and fishing well. Callibaetis have made their appearance
on the lake. Chironimid fishing under an indicator has remained consistent. If nothing is rising
feel free to tie on a leech or wooly bugger pattern and vary your retrieve until you find
something that the fish like.

Upper Madison: It’s a good time of year to be on the Madison! Salmonflies have made it all the
way to the wade section, and the Madison has been fishing hot. Be on the lookout for Caddis
through-out the day but especially in the afternoon/early evenings. And of course, Salmonflies
and Goldenstones. Running a tandem nymph rig, searching around with an attractor dry fly, or
fishing a stonefly dry with a nymph dropper are all great options right now if you aren’t finding
rising fish. Keep in mind water temps have been creeping up with these hot days, so do your
best to fight fish quickly, and give them a little extra recovery time before letting them go.
Flies: #16 X-Caddis, #16 Missing Link Caddis, #8-10 Henry’s Fork Salmon Fly, #8 Chili Dog
Salmonfly, #10 Chili Dog Goldenston, #8-10 Golden Razorback
YNP
The Gallatin in YNP is beginning to fish. Keep an eye out for Stoneflies, Caddis, PMD’s Yellow
Sallies, and Green Drakes. If nothing is coming up, your favorite attractor dry should find a fish
or two. Water Temps on the Firehole, Gibbon, and Madison have started to be too hot for
ethical fishing, so we recommend finding somewhere else to fish and come back during the fall
once water temps cool back down.
Flies: #14-16 Purple Parachute, #16-18 X-Caddis, #16 Tilt Wing PMD, #16 Front End Loader, #14-
